About Me
Born in the heart of Detroit, Justina was a young girl with a fiery passion for music that burned brighter than the city lights at night. Growing up, she found solace in the melodies that seeped through the radio waves, her fingers dancing on the guitar strings in the dimly lit basements of her friends' homes. Little did she know, her soulful voice held a power that could move mountains.
It was in the halls of the Award-Winning Chippewa Valley High School Choir that Justina's voice truly found its strength, nurtured by the expert guidance of her mentor, Ellen Bowen. As she honed her craft with the influence of local legend Maestro Benny Caruso. They performed under the enigmatic name of "Justina's Secret," which shaped her musical journey. Their partnership spanned eight years, birthing timeless songs that whispered stories of love, loss, and everything in between.
In 2006, Justina made her escape to the tranquil shores of the Florida Keys with her new and beloved husband, Captain Ken Black, where the salty breeze carried the promise of a new chapter. Yet, the recession of 2008 forced them to wander to the dazzling lights of Las Vegas, a city pulsating with energy and rhythm. There, amidst the vibrant local music scene, Justina crossed paths with a talented Song Writer - Producer. and a fellow Detroiter, Michael Wilde, forming the soulful guitar duo “Black and Wilde,”. They mesmerized audiences with their harmonious melodies and beauty and beast appeal. When Pianist Virtuoso Damon Balser heard her voice, he welcomed her into his top 40 trio, ‘ Merlot’ which created a resonance of an on going musical dream for Justina, but the time had come to move on.
By 2011, the serene call of the Florida Keys beckoned her back, offering a peaceful haven to let her musical spirit soar. And as the wheel of fate turned once more, Justina found herself drawn back to her roots in Detroit in the summer of 2015, where her journey had first begun. The trials of Hurricane Irma in 2017 brought her , back to the idyllic shores of Islamorada, where she now performs and longs to weave her magical songs into sync music for films and TV.
Life is but a perfect Dream~~~~J*
